Mastiffs make wonderful service dogs.

Beau is currently traveling as a service dog for his owner Virginia and is showing in hopes to receive his AKC Championship. Good Luck Beau!

Raising the Puppies

We encourage you to visit us (by appt) and meet all of our Mastiffs. We typically have between 9 and 15 with us and usually 1-4 who are visiting while parents are away on vacations or such.

All of our guys are brushed each day , nails clipped, teeth brushed and ears cleaned every one to two weeks. They have large areas to play and hangout and their own space to rest. They go on playdates and hang out watching TV with us. Nothing compares to being the adored pet in a family, but we come as close as is humanly possible. We love the all deeply and when they go to homes the love does not end. In short, we care from birth to the twilight years.

Beowulf Mastiffs have bred and finished over 300 Champions with titles that span the globe, many with group placements and Best In Show Wins.

We have proudly bred the top Mastiffs in 7 countries and work to support their owners who are leading the way for wonderful Mastiffs across the world.

What is most important is that they are good family members, without that, they have little worth.

Beowulf Mastiffs Global believes that soundness of body and mind is essential. Our mastiffs are traditionally fit, lean and lovable. While our mastiffs are content to share your couch, they are also quite capable of jogging two-five miles. They are gentle but protective, massive yet lean. Most of all they have a strong desire to be loved by you.

From birth to 3 weeks they have a human with them 24/7. Mom's nurse and we follow with a bottle. This part is more for us, we love to hold, hug and kiss them. Babies only care about eating so without the bottle they are not that interested in us. So it is baby bribery... We chart who is eating and what and when they are eliminating. This also gives us the unique opportunity to intently observe their individual personalities from the very beginning.

At approximately three to four weeks old, Mom will stop cleaning up after the babies, it is at this time we begin a house-training program. Puppies kept in a very clean environment train very easily, we use this and we schedule their routine to coincide with nature. By the time they go to their new homes they are accustomed to pottying outside. In addition, they have also had their teeth brushed, nails clipped, ears cleaned, wearing a collar and they have been introduced to leads. Mastiffs need socialization for sound mental and emotional development.

At seven weeks puppies are neurologically complete. This means they have done everything they need to do with their Mom, and litter mates. We are able to observe their core personality traits and find out which puppy was born to be yours based on the information you give us.

At eight weeks of age our puppies are placed in their new homes, where they will promptly try to steal your heart as each and every one of them has stolen mine.

One of the singularly most important decisions you will ever make for the longevity and health of your Mastiff Puppy or older dog is what you choose to feed them.

Beowulf Mastiffs Global strongly recommends you feed Life's Abundance Food for Pets. It is quite simply the best.

Please go to www.totalpethealthonline.com and order not only the all life stage food but the synergistic Wellness Supplements also. It matters and they love it.

What is a Breeder?

I am a breeder. I spend a lifetime learning pedigrees, going over dogs, talking, and learning from those in my breed and those outside it. I raise each litter as if I gave birth to them and spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only put puppies on this planet that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and nicest examples of their breed. I support each family who chose one of my puppies and let them know they are now a part of our extended family. I am there if one needs to come back. I support my breed in rescue and education. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world. I share my knowledge and socialize my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for my dedication. I don't keep track of the money and time I put in to my love of dogs, it would not be a true measure of how I feel. The price I charge for my puppies is never profit, but investment in the next generation. I am not ashamed of who I am... I work hard at being a good dog person and encouraging others to be the same. I am a breeder and I am proud of it. If we don't support each other - we are doomed as a fancy.

A Breeder is one who thirsts for knowledge and never really knows it all, one who wrestles with decisions of conscience, convenience, and commitment.

A Breeder is one who sacrifices personal interests, finances, time, friendships, fancy furniture, and deep pile carpeting!

She gives up the dreams of a long, luxurious cruise in favor of turning that all important Show into this years "vacation".

The Breeder goes without sleep (but never without coffee!) in hours spent planning a breeding or watching anxiously over the birth process, and afterwards, over every little sneeze, wiggle or cry.

The Breeder skips dinner parties because that litter is due or the babies have to be fed at eight.

She disregards birth fluids and puts mouth to mouth to save a gasping newborn, literally blowing life into a tiny, helpless creature that may be the culmination of a lifetime of dreams.

A Breeders lap is a marvelous place where generations of proud and noble champions once snoozed.

A Breeders hands are strong and firm and often soiled, but ever so gentle and sensitive to the thrusts of a puppy's wet nose.

A Breeders back and knees are usually arthritic from stooping, bending, and sitting in the birthing box, but are strong enough to enable the breeder to take the next choice pup to a Championship.

A Breeders shoulders are stooped and often heaped with abuse from competitors, but they're wide enough to support the weight of a thousand defeats and frustrations.

A Breeders arms are always able to wield a mop, support an armful of puppies, or lend a helping hand to a newcomer.

A Breeders ears are wondrous things, sometimes red (from being talked about) or strangely shaped (from being pressed against a phone receiver), often deaf to criticism, yet always fine-tuned to the whimper of a sick puppy.

A Breeders eyes are blurred from pedigree research and they are always searching for the perfect specimen.

A Breeders brain is foggy on faces, but it can recall pedigrees faster than an IBM computer. It's so full of knowledge that sometimes it blows a fuse: it catalogues thousands of good boning, fine ears, and perfect heads... and buries in the soul the failures and the ones that didn't turn out.

The Breeders heart is often broken, but it beats strongly with hope everlasting...and it's always in the right place!

Oh, yes, there are breeders, and then, there are BREEDERS
